THE CONSTANTLY EVOLVING SEARCH FOR CULTURE AND/OR THE MEANING OF LIFE
Summer 2005: I want to pay the rent. And keep the house beautifully clean and uncluttered. Also read a lot of philosophy and Nabokov. And The Paris Review and The Economist. And explore interesting restaurants, and go folk dancing, and make this city my own.
Summer 2004: This summer, I have decided to become cultured. This means going through my ginormous reading list and then writing reviews/reactions/ecstatic glorifications/grumblings about what I read on my lj for my own gratification. (If it gratifies you, then I will be happy but I make no promises.) This also includes shopping for cool dangly earrings at Goodwill, going to independent films, contra dancing, (re)learning how to bake bread, sewing dresses, being informed about current events, attending odd art festivals, encouraging my hair's curlier tendencies, working for the Kerry campaign, cleaning my room, and lying out in the sun a lot contemplating the meaning of the universe. Or just going "Mmmm....sunnnn..." and becoming incredibly freckled.
While this does not tell you who I am, where I come from, or where I may be going in the long run, you probably have a fairly good idea of who I am. If you would like to join in the Quest for Culture, send 25.99 in pounds or US dollars to Stratford-Upon-Avon, and I will send you your own personalized t-shirt, pinky ring and inspirational poster handsigned, numbered and given a fond pat by the artist.
Yes, I had far too much sugar this afternoon. Cheerio!
